Course Description:
This course is designed to expand on what the students learned in Algebra I.  Algebra II pre-AP equips you with the necessary tools to succeed in higher mathematics.  While building on mathematics precepts and problems solving skills developed in prior math classes you are presented with new concepts that broaden your mathematics experience. Topics include foundations for functions, linear functions, linear systems, matrices, quadratic equations, polynomials, exponents, logarithm functions, radicals, and conic sections.  You are encouraged to work with your peers, ask questions during class and seek extra help from me when needed.   Successful learning involves a team - the student, the teacher, and the parent(s).  Parents: Please do not hesitate to contact me if you see your child struggling in this class or you have any questions or concerns about this class.
Class Expectations
The daily behavior of a class will determine the success of this course. While you cannot control the behavior of your peers you can determine for yourself how to behave.
Your Behavior is Your Responsibility
I expect you to take an active role in your learning.   I expect that we will work together to create an enjoyable classroom environment in which we can cooperatively learn.  Notes should be taken every class, needed materials should be brought to class daily, homework should be completed every night assigned, and difficulties with a particular assignment should be addressed prior to the class in which it is due.  I expect you to follow all guidelines and policies in the student handbook.  Class starts at the bell.  You are expected to have your pencils sharpened, have all required materials out on your desk, and to be ready for class when the bell rings. I will not supply pencils, extra paper, or any other materials for your use.
